Does a pergola need a permit?
Rules differ by city and county, by size and by whether the pergola attaches to the house. Your partner contractor can tell you what applies where you live.
What is the difference between a pergola and a pavilion?
A pergola has an open slatted top that gives partial shade. A pavilion has a solid roof and gives full cover. Your contractor can help you pick the one that suits your yard.
